The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has been tasked with expediting the relocation of the Thalassemia Center to Orange Hiya in Hulhumalé Phase 1, following a directive from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy visited the site today to inspect the ongoing work, which is being carried out under the supervision of the MNDF Service Corps. The relocation process is being overseen by Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon.
MNDF Electrical and Mechanical Engineers are responsible for the electrical and air conditioning systems, while IT-related work is being handled by MNDF Signals technical personnel. Before the practical work commenced, the MNDF design team revised the building layout, incorporating changes to create a more child-friendly environment.
The relocation efforts were initiated after President Muizzu personally visited the Thalassemia Center to assess its current condition and decided on necessary improvements. The work is expected to be completed by April.
