President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, in his address marking Dhivehi Language Day, underscored the vital role of the Dhivehi language in preserving national identity, unity, and cultural heritage.

Highlighting Dhivehi as a source of pride and sovereignty, the President stated that the language and its unique script are central to Maldivian nationhood. He noted that Dhivehi connects generations through centuries of shared customs, beliefs, and traditions.

The President urged families and educators to inspire young people to engage with Dhivehi literature, stressing the importance of nurturing talent in the language and arts. He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting the preservation and development of Dhivehi.

“Promoting our language is not only the responsibility of institutions; it is a shared duty of all Maldivians,” President Muizzu said, calling for nationwide efforts to ensure the language remains vibrant and relevant in modern times.

He further took to social media, describing Dhivehi as the backbone of Maldivian identity and expressed hope for its continued growth while staying rooted in tradition.
