President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has ratified the third amendment to the Maldives Immigration Act (Law No. 01/2007), formally prohibiting the entry of individuals holding Israeli passports into the Maldives.

The ratification follows the bill’s approval by the People’s Majlis during its 20th sitting of the year on 15 April 2025. The amendment introduces a new provision that bans Israeli passport holders from entering the country, reflecting the Government's strong response to Israel’s ongoing military actions and alleged acts of genocide against the Palestinian people.

In a statement following the ratification, the Government reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with Palestine and its commitment to upholding the rights of the Palestinian people. The Maldives also pledged to continue advocating for accountability for violations of international law and to raise its voice against Israeli actions at global forums.

President Dr. Muizzu has repeatedly stated the Maldives’ firm support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with United Nations resolutions and international law.
