Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called for fair work conditions and stronger job security in his message commemorating International Workers’ Day.
In a post on social media platform X, Solih extended warm greetings and appreciation to Maldivian workers, describing their hard work and dedication as the driving force behind the country’s economic progress. He said that building a just economy must begin with fair work practices.
“A just economy begins with fair work, and we will remain unwavering in striving for this goal,” Solih stated.
His message comes amid growing public concern over recent dismissals reportedly linked to political affiliations. Solih recently condemned such practices, describing them as the return of a dangerous culture of job insecurity.
