President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured the thalassemia community that his administration will prioritize their needs and work towards developing inclusive, patient-centred healthcare policies.

The President committed during a meeting held on Monday morning at the President’s Office with representatives from the thalassemia community. The forum served as a platform for patients, caregivers, and advocates to express concerns, propose ideas, and discuss long-term solutions with the country’s leadership.

Community representatives welcomed the Government’s willingness to engage directly and acknowledged the administration’s ongoing efforts to address their concerns. They highlighted that the current Government is the first to include specific provisions for children with thalassemia in its manifesto, adding that the community stands ready to support the formulation of inclusive policies.
