President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized that empowering Maldivian families, improving self-sufficiency, and raising living standards are essential for accelerating national development and securing a brighter future.

Sharing a message on his official X account to mark the International Day of Families, President Muizzu extended wishes of prosperity, success, and well-being to every Maldivian family. He highlighted the Islamic principle of valuing strong family ties, noting their significance in achieving sustained national progress.

The Maldives has consistently acknowledged the crucial role of families in shaping the nation’s social and economic landscape. Government initiatives supporting families include the Aasandha universal healthcare scheme, expanded child and social protection services, financial aid for single parents, and extended parental leave—six months for mothers and one month for fathers.

The President also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to further strengthen family-focused services, noting that preparations are underway to open a specialized hospital for women and children during this term.
