Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Richard Marles, has revealed that over 700 Maldivians have been trained in Australia to date.
He made the statement at yesterday's official opening ceremony of Australia’s first High Commission in the Maldives, which was inaugurated by Dr. Maryam Mariya, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare.
Speaking at the event, Minister Mariya highlighted the long-standing relationship between the Maldives and Australia, describing it as one built on mutual respect. She said the establishment of the High Commission is a clear sign of the growing partnership between the two nations.
