The Local Government Authority (LGA) has called on local councils to celebrate this year’s Eid al-Adha in a manner that upholds Islamic values and social standards.

In a statement issued today, the LGA noted that Eid is one of the most vibrant occasions observed by councils and holds significant religious and cultural importance across the Islamic Ummah. The LGA emphasized that the key goals of the celebration should be to foster unity, revive Islamic values, and uphold local customs.

The authority reminded councils of their responsibility to ensure that Eid activities align with Islamic teachings and contribute to religious harmony in communities.

The LGA also urged the government to support efforts to ensure all events remain respectful of societal norms.

“Please ensure that the activities are conducted in the public interest without violating social standards,” the statement said.
