Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended a warm welcome to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his official visit to the Maldives to attend the 60th Independence Day celebrations.

In a press statement, Solih congratulated President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for inviting Prime Minister Modi as the Chief Guest for the national occasion, calling it a significant diplomatic gesture.

Solih described Modi’s visit as a reflection of India’s enduring respect for the Maldivian people and the close, multifaceted relationship between the two nations.
