President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu hosted a state banquet on Monday evening in honour of His Excellency Anura Kumara Disanayaka, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, who is currently on his first state visit to the Maldives since taking office in September 2024.
The banquet, held as part of the official programme, was attended by the Special Envoy of the President, Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan; Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism, Vijitha Herath; Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, Ms Thimuthu Dissanayake; senior Maldivian government officials; and members of the visiting Sri Lankan delegation.
President Disanayaka arrived in the Maldives earlier today at the invitation of President Muizzu. His visit comes as the two countries mark 60 years of diplomatic relations, established in 1965.
