The amount of US dollars available for medical treatment abroad has been increased starting today, the Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced.
As part of the revised policy:
- Patients traveling under Aasandha will be eligible to purchase up to USD 2,000.
- Patients receiving assistance from NSPA can also access up to USD 2,000, subject to NSPA’s prior approval.
- Patients traveling at their own expense, without support from Aasandha or NSPA, can purchase up to USD 1,000.
The changes aim to ease the financial difficulties faced by individuals seeking treatment overseas. The bank confirmed the new limits are effective from 1st August 2025.
