The Maldives has welcomed 1.3 million tourists so far this year, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism.

As of August 3, a total of 1,315,495 tourists had visited the Maldives—marking a 9.4 percent increase compared to the 1,202,579 arrivals recorded during the same period last year.

In the first three days of August alone, 20,627 tourists arrived in the Maldives, reflecting a 5.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

China topped the list of source markets with 194,159 tourists, followed by Russia with 155,324, the UK with 122,530, Italy with 93,819, and Germany with 92,240 tourists.

The government aims to attract 2.3 million tourists this year. With 1.3 million arrivals already recorded, an additional one million visitors are needed to meet the target.
