President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed decentralized service delivery as a core philosophy of his Administration during his visit to Kendhoo in Baa Atoll.

Speaking directly to residents, the President stressed that involving communities in shaping state and development projects ensures progress aligned with their needs. He emphasized that true development requires leaders, including the President and Cabinet members, to engage closely with local communities—a hallmark of his Administration’s approach.

Dr. Muizzu called on local councils to set aside political differences and collaborate sincerely with the Government. He highlighted recent legal reforms that restrict council-owned companies from competing in small and micro business sectors, aiming to protect private entrepreneurs and promote equal opportunity.

Assuring residents of Kendhoo, the President reiterated his Administration’s commitment to fulfilling the island’s 10 pledges alongside additional development initiatives, particularly in health, education, and recreation.

Key announcements during the visit included a land reclamation, harbour upgrade, and coastal protection project, alongside the official inauguration of water and sewerage services.

The four-day tour covers all 13 inhabited islands of Baa Atoll, with several Ministers and senior officials accompanying the President.
