President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured residents of AA. Himandhoo by stating that the additional classroom building for the island’s school will be completed in time for the start of the new academic year.

Meeting with residents today as part of his tour of Alifu Alifu Atoll, the President acknowledged the school’s space constraints and delays in construction, pledging to fast-track the remaining work to ensure the classrooms are ready for use.

He also highlighted the opening of the new extension of the Himandhoo Health Centre and promised to enhance laboratory services to reduce the need for residents to travel elsewhere for treatment. Addressing coastal erosion, President Muizzu said a contractor would soon be appointed for protection works and confirmed that the harbour channel issue would be resolved alongside the project.

As part of the government’s nationwide sports programme, he announced plans to build a handball court and an indoor gym in Himandhoo this year. During the visit, he also inaugurated the island’s new water and sewerage system.

President Muizzu is visiting all inhabited islands of Alifu Alifu Atoll during this tour, holding meetings with Island Councils and Women’s Development Committees to discuss development needs and community priorities.
