President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Thursday ratified the first amendment bill to the Armed Forces Act.
The amendment is based on two subjects; maintaining the armed forces' structure and prioritizing retaining the most adept officers in the force. This amendment would further strengthen the retirement procedures of armed forces personnel.
The bill was passed by Parliament on March 8, 2021, at the 14th sitting of its first session this year. Following its ratification, the legislation has now been published in the Government Gazette and has subsequently come into force.
