President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has issued a decree amending the geographic jurisdiction of Th. Madifushi, bringing Th. Ufuriyaa and Th. Kolhufushi under its administration.
The change, made through Decree No. 24/2025, fulfills the President’s pledge to designate the two islands within Madifushi’s jurisdiction. The decree was issued under Section 56-1(a) of the Decentralisation Act, which empowers the President to determine and designate the jurisdictions of City and Island Councils.
A revised chart reflecting the updated jurisdiction of Th. Madifushi has been codified and published in the Government Gazette.
