The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Israel’s ground offensive in northern Gaza has left hospitals on the “brink of collapse,” urging an immediate end to what it described as “inhumane conditions.”

“The military incursion and evacuation orders in northern Gaza are driving new waves of displacement, forcing traumatized families into an ever-shrinking area unfit for human dignity,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Thursday. He added that overwhelmed hospitals were unable to function as escalating violence blocks aid deliveries.

Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital reported receiving 20 bodies from Israeli strikes since midnight, while the civil defense agency said more than 60 people were killed on Wednesday alone.

Meanwhile, Spain announced it will investigate possible human rights violations in Gaza to support the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has already issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Spain’s prosecutor general Alvaro Garcia Ortiz has ordered the creation of a special team to collect evidence of alleged war crimes, stressing that such material could contribute to international cases against Israel. Madrid has also joined proceedings at the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza.
