President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed his condolences to the Philippines after a powerful earthquake struck off the coast of Cebu island, causing widespread devastation and loss of life.

In a message shared on his official X account, President Muizzu expressed deep sympathies to the Philippine government and people, noting that the thoughts of the Maldives are with the bereaved families during this time of national grief.



He further affirmed that the Maldives stands in solidarity with the Philippines as the nation grapples with the aftermath of the disaster.

The earthquake, which hit on Tuesday, left dozens dead and caused severe damage across the region, with rescue and recovery efforts still underway.
