A total of 212,711 people across the Maldives have received the Covid-19 vaccine from the nationwide inoculation drive.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 121,630 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine from the greater Male’ region. Meanwhile, 91,081 people have received the Covid-19 vaccine from outside the greater Male’ region.

As per the recent statistics, 6,597 people received the Covid-19 vaccine in the Maldives, in the last 24 hours.

The vaccine rollout program kicked off on February 01, with the Covishield vaccine donated by the Indian government.

In addition to the Covishield vaccine, Maldives has today approved vaccines developed by Pfizer BioNTech and Sinopharm, for emergency use. China has already pledged 200,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine to the Maldives, while Maldives is expected to receive the Pfizer vaccine through the WHO Covax facility.
