The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced a second round of vaccination to start in the greater Male’ area tomorrow.
HPA has stated that the second round of vaccination in the greater Male’ area would be initiated with the first dose of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine. As per HPA, those who were not able to get their vaccine in the first round can now get vaccinated on the second round.
Vaccination will be held at Social Center, Hulhumale’ Vaccination Center (former flu clinic), Vilimale’ Youth Center, People's Majlis, and Treetop Hospital.
The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) approved the Covid-19 vaccine developed by the Sinopharm (Chinese National Pharmaceutical Group) on March 15. The vaccine is currently approved in over 20 countries.
HPA also stated that the Sinopharm vaccine will not be administered to children below 18 years, people who are positive to Covid-19, people with diseases or on medications that make their immune system weak, and pregnant women.
