The Maldives has received 100,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine manufactured from India.
As per the government of the Maldives, today Maldives received 100,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India under the name of Covishield.
This would be the first shipment of vaccines received under the procurement agreement between the government of the Maldives and the Serum Institute of India. The government of the Maldives has signed to procure 200,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine on March 23.
The Maldives has already received 200,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine as a donation from India, and 12,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine from the Covax facility.
With additional doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, Maldives expects to start inoculation of the second dose of vaccine for those who have already received the first dose of the vaccine.
