The State Electric Company Ltd. (STELCO) has introduced a “Green Life Initiative” program today.

With the new initiative, STELCO has decided to stop using single-use plastic and aim towards paperless transitions. The Green Life Initiative was introduced today during a special ceremony held.

Speaking at the ceremony today, the Managing Director of STELCO, Mr. Hasan Mugunee highlighted that the environment-friendly initiative is a huge milestone to achieve in the company’s history. He also stated that this program will support minimizing expenses and decrease paper usage by 52% by the end of 2021.

During the ceremony, chief guest, Mr. Gasim Abdul Kareem, Chairperson of the National Integrity Commission, called upon all the other institutions to follow the lead by STELCO to become more environmentally friendly.

STELCO has also introduced reusable bags instead of plastic bags, and introduced all its services online through its website, and mobile app, for paperless services. To encourage all the employees to participate in the green initiative, STELCO had distributed reusable water bottles and cloth bags among its employees.
