Bank of Maldives (BML) has today announced the installation of solar powered streetlights in Sh. Goidhoo supported through ‘Aharenge Bank Community Fund’.
Under this project, 50 solar powered streetlights were installed on a 2km area in the island’s main road to parks and picnic areas.
Commenting on the project, the winner Ibrahim Nisham Ahmed stated “Prior to this project, there were no street lights in the area. All the works were carried out by talented youth from the island. We are very pleased with the completion of this project during this challenging times. This project will benefit several groups of the community including farmers, palm leaf weavers, ‘kanamadhu’ collectors and those who use the area for exercises, and those who use the parks and picnic areas as well.”
He also stated that similar development project proposals will be submitted in future as well.
