The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has informed 12 Covid-19 positive cases from Thaa atoll Kinbidhoo island.
The island was placed under monitoring earlier this week upon detecting Covid-19 positive cases. HPA reported 7 additional positive cases today which lead to a total of 12 positive cases from Kinbidhoo Island. These additional positive cases were reported from direct contacts to the initial Covid-19 positive cases.
HPA confirmed five positive cases from Kinbidhoo Island initially. Out of which four people were tested with flu-like symptoms. The 5th person who tested positive was a person who traveled from Th. Veymandoo island to Kinbidhoo Island. Th. Veymandoo island is currently placed under monitoring status as well.
So far, 90 samples have been taken from the island. Meanwhile, Kinbidhoo island is still placed under monitoring for further contact tracing and case investigations.
