The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced ease on travel restrictions imposed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As per the statement released today by the HPA, the ease on travel restrictions will be effective from April 20th onwards.

The announcement reads that if 60% of the island population have completed two doses of COVID-19 vaccination, travelling will be allowed to that island without having to quarantine.

But if traveling to an island where 60% of the population is not fully vaccinated, travel without quarantine is allowed for only those individuals who have passed 2 weeks after completing vaccination, and if traveling from an island with a sample positivity rate is 5% or more, or accompanying children not eligible for vaccination a negative PCR will be required.

In addition to this, travellers including tourists arriving in the Maldives, no longer require a negative PCR test result, and or quarantine, if 2 weeks have passed after the 2nd dose of their vaccination.

However, travelers arriving in the Maldives to work in Health facilities, Daycare centers, Schools and Residential care services, requires a negative PCR test result on arrival or after entering the Maldives even though 2 weeks have passed after completing vaccination.
