Hiring process guidelines for senior judges to courts in Maldives get published.
These guidelines under the constitution states that the senior judges hired should be referred to his/her education qualification, experience, behaviour and competency. Vacancy notice, interview process, interview grading, and decision of hiring senior judges are in detail under 8 clauses in the guideline.
Guidelines also state that when JSC opens vacancy to hire senior judges to high court, superior courts or judiciary, application will be accepted from judges who are already working in the same court.
From the interview grading, the name of the highest scorer will be sent to JSC members to vote to appoint a senior judge for the vacant position. If it was a tie in grading, voting would proceed after looking at the experiences. Then a senior judge will be hired.
