Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Shahid and High Commissioner to Sri Lanka from Maldives, Mr Umar Abdul Razzaq joined in the virtual ceremony held to receive the 60 ventilators donated to Maldives from America.
Ambassador to Maldives from America, Ms Alaina B. Teplitz joined in the virtual ceremony on behalf of the people of America, to donate the ventilators to the Maldives.
During this virtual ceremony, Mr Shahid said that the generous support of the ventilators from US Agency for International Development (USAID), will help to build more capacity in ICU’s of the Maldives which will further support in strengthening preparedness to attend a further worsening of the pandemic.
He further said that this support will be an advantage on states work on further capacity building in the health facilities along with building more capacities to address the covid-19 pandemic.
The donated ventilators will be sent to health facilities in 20 islands.
