Former Foreign Minister, Ms Dhunya Maumoon raises concerns over health ministers position being vacant amidst the pandemic and no action being taken against those responsible for the state institutions showing questionable practices in acquiring life saving equipment on the COVID-19 response.
In her tweet, Ms Dhunya stated that The official audits conducted on the Covid-19 response government institutions show questionable practices in acquiring life saving equipment urgently needed for our citizens and it is disappointing to see no action has been taken against those responsible.
The audit reports released by the Auditor General shows major corruption involvement in Health Ministry and Tourism Ministry’s audit reports. Minister Ameen left the position upon receiving many criticisms for the audit report. Speaking at the finance committee at the parliament, Mr Ameen denied any corruption involvement in acquiring life saving equipment during the Covid-19 response.
Meanwhile, regarding these audit reports, President of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called for a joint investigation from Police and Anti Corruption Commission of the Maldives.

Still no health Minister! The official audits conducted on the COVID-19 response government institutions show questionable practices in acquiring life saving equipment urgently needed for our citizens. Disappointing to see no action has been taken against those responsible.
