May 22, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported 1960 additional cases of Covid-19. But HPA has not released any details of the pending results from backlogged pending samples taken earlier this month. HPA is yet to confirm whether the backlog is cleared or not.

The total positive cases recorded include 1,518 people infected in the greater Male’ area and 442 people infected outside the greater Male’ area. Out of this, 11 people are positive from operational resorts, and 431 people are positive from inhabited islands.

With additional cases of the Covid-19, confirmed cases in the Maldives have increased up to 54,365 cases, including 22,421 active cases to Covid-19.

So far, HPA has taken 6,333 test samples within the last 24 hours.

HPA also reported that 615 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, which increases the total recoveries to 31,812.

According to HPA, there are 294 patients admitted to hospitals, and the Maldives has recorded 123 deaths from Covid-19 complications.

In addition to this, a total of 305,401 people across the Maldives have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from the nationwide inoculation drive. Out of which, 153,946 people have received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
