The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced new restrictive measures in the greater Male’ area.

Under the new restrictive measures, HPA has imposed an extension of curfew hours from 04:00 pm to 08:00 am. During curfew hours a Police permit will be required to go out for nonmedical emergencies and other essential services.

In addition to the curfew extension, movement will be restricted within the greater Male' area from 08:00 am to 04:00 pm. During the movement restricted hours, each household will be issued 2 permits to go out for essential services. Out of these permits, one permit can be used from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm, and the second permit can be used from 12:00 pm to 04:00 pm. Although vehicle movement is allowed for permit holders, traveling between Male’ and Hulhumale’ is restricted during this time.

Under the new restrictions Cafes and restaurants will be open for the only takeaway during movement restricted time from 08:00 am to 04:00 pm, and the takeaway option is restricted during curfew hours. But permit holder shops, Cafes, and restaurants can be open for deliveries from 06:00 am till midnight. HPA has imposed a fine of 5000 MVR for Shops, Cafes, and restaurants that provide other services than delivery, during curfew hours.

The new restrictions will be effective from Wednesday, May 26 onwards.

New restrictions were imposed following a surge in daily cases reported, and as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of Covid-19.
