May 24, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported 1417additional cases of Covid-19. But HPA has not released any details of the pending results from backlogged pending samples taken earlier this month. HPA is also yet to confirm whether the backlog is cleared or not.

The total positive cases recorded include 1,097 people infected in the greater Male’ area and 320 people infected outside the greater Male’ area. Out of this, 17 people are positive from operational resorts, and 303 people are positive from inhabited islands.

With additional cases of the Covid-19, confirmed cases in the Maldives have increased up to 57,341 cases, including 24,057 active cases to Covid-19.

So far, HPA has taken 5,581 test samples within the last 24 hours.

HPA also reported that 814 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, which increases the total recoveries to 33,136.

According to HPA, there are 282 patients admitted to hospitals, and the Maldives has recorded 139 deaths from Covid-19 complications.
