Over 700 people have been fined for violating Covid-19 restrictions in the greater Male’ area over the last 24 hours.

To curb the spread of Covid-19, strict measures have been introduced in the greater Male’ area. These include an extension of curfew hours to 04:00 pm till 08:00 am and a movement restriction from 08:00 am to 04:00 pm. A fine of 1000 MVR has to be paid for violating the curfew order, and the mandatory mask order.

In a recent press conference, the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has informed that so far, 742 people have been fined for violating the curfew and the mandatory mask order over the last 24 hours. Out of this, 507 people were fined for violating the curfew and 175 people for violating the mandatory mask order.

In addition, 60 people were fined for providing services at shops, cafes, and salons, against the Covid-19 strict measures.
