President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has today departed to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to attend the funeral of his younger brother, Ahmed Mohamed Solih.
Ahmed Mohamed Solih, 55, passed away in Dubai earlier this Monday. He passed away while receiving medical treatment for cancer in Dubai. As per information, along with the President, some members of his family also traveled to Dubai to attend his funeral.
The spokesperson for the President's office said that the President will return back to the Maldives on Wednesday, 23 June 2021.
President Solih has 12 siblings. Out of them, four siblings, including Ahmed, are visually impaired. Three of the President’s siblings completed courses to learn to recite the Holy Quran by heart and have become hafizes. All the three hafizes are visually impaired siblings of the President.
