Speaking at the opening ceremony of the webinar for the media personnel's, conducted by the Home Ministry, State Minister, Mr Ali Nazeer stated that the Media is the biggest support to the state to work against extremism.
In his remark, Mr Nazeer mentioned that extremism is a huge issue in the country whether it is abuse of drugs, extremism has reached to the Maldivian communities in different levels and this extremism issue cannot be addressed just by the government.
He further stated the Media is the 4th power in a democratic community, and it is highly unlikely to promote extremism through media. He also said that the state’s objective is to support the capacity building in the local media.
This one day webinar was held as an awareness session on extremism to the Media.
