Finance Minister, Mr Ibrahim Ameer said that the current government has awarded 6 Million USD worth projects so far which is more projects awarded than the former president’s 5 year term.
Answering public questions in a radio show by ‘Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu’, Minister Ameer said that the current state has worked towards the development of the nation more than any past governments of the Maldives, awarding more projects within just 2 years for the current government. He further said that although the past government has taken more loans, expectation development was not achieved.
Minister Ameer assures that the action works will be seen through loans taken for development projects. Large scale projects include, Port development, bridge development, Hanimaadhoo and Addu airport development. These will lead to recovery of the Maldivian economy.
Referring to the financial records, Minister Ameer said the economy is expected to be increased to 15 - 17 % by next year and the economy will be fully recovered by 2022. He also stated that the Maldives did not have any Fiscal reserve, if we had any, it would have helped us during a time of a pandemic.
