In a ceremony to celebrate the World Tourism day, Minister of Tourism, Dr Abdulla Mausoom introduced the Maldives Border Miles program.
Under this program, visitors will earn points for each border crossing through three tiers – (bronze) Aidha’, (silver) Anthara, and (gold) Abaarana. Through the points earned from this program, visitors can earn different benefits at resorts, as well as exclusive services and privileges.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Mausoom said that he believes that the Maldives Border Miles program will further enhance the existing loyalty programs in the tourism sector and serve to improve Maldives’ visibility and boost repeated arrivals. He also highlighted that the work in progress to recover the tourism sector, has shown positive signs so far, hence he believes that by 2021 the tourism sector will have earned many developments.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Mohamed Ahmed Hussain, the Controller General of the Maldives Immigration said that support from everyone involved in the tourism sector is needed to make the Maldives Border Miles program successful.
Regarding the program, the Tourism Ministry has said that the tourists enrolled in the program will earn points each time they enter the Maldives, and for promoting their experiences in the Maldives. This marketing program is a joint initiative program by the Maldives Immigration and the Tourism sector stakeholders.
This program will be an added advantage to boost the visibility of the Maldives.
