The new Ambassadors from Germany, the United Mexican States, and High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Maldives presented their credentials to His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, this morning.
During a special ceremony held at the President’s Office, credentials were handover by the new Ambassador of the United Mexican States designated to the Maldives, His Excellency Federico Salas Lofte, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Germany, His Excellency Mr. Holger Lothar Seubert, and Her Excellency, Jacqueline Mukangira, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Maldives.
Speaking to the Ambassadors following the ceremony, the President congratulated them on their ambassadorial appointments and conveyed his hope for the existing bilateral relations between the Maldives and the respective countries. The President and the new Ambassadors discussed ways further to enhance existing relations between the Maldives and respective countries, emphasizing cooperation on areas relating to multilateral relations, fisheries, economy, health, and education sectors.
During the call with the Ambassadors, the President highlighted the Government’s efforts to manage the COVID-19 pandemic, including the accelerated vaccination program that is currently ongoing. The President also expressed hope for strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector between the countries, noting that the tourist arrivals during the last holiday season increased following the reopening of borders in July last year.
Ending the call, the President and the Ambassadors reiterated their common commitment to elevating the existing relationship between the Maldives and Mexico on common issues of interest in the coming years.
