World Heart Day is a global campaign during which individuals, families, communities, and governments around the world participate in activities to take charge of their heart health and that of others. Through this campaign, people from all countries and backgrounds unites in the fight against the Cardiovascular disease (CVD) burden and promotes international action to encourage heart-healthy living across the world.

CVD has many causes: from smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity, to air pollution, and rare and neglected conditions such as Chagas Disease and cardiac amyloidosis. In the time of Covid-19, CVD patients are faced with a double-edged threat. Not only are they more at risk of developing severe forms of the virus, but they may also be afraid to seek ongoing care for their hearts.

Every year 29th of September is celebrated as World Heart Day. This year the theme is to ‘use Heart to beat cardiovascular disease’.

In celebrations of the World Heart Day, President Ibrahim Solih conveys his message through social media. In his tweet, he reminded us of the importance of having a good healthy lifestyle, while the Covid-19 pandemic has slowed down the pace of life.

He further mentioned that Covid-19 pandemic has added more stress and anxiety to our daily life and emphasized on taking care of your heart In the time of COVID-19.

Sending his remarks through a video message, acting Health Minister, Minister of Housing, Mr Mohamed Aslam, reminded us all that it is the time to make the change in ourselves for a healthy heart and for a happy healthy life, it is important to have a healthy heart beat.
