The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) launched the first vessel of Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry today.
A high-speed ferry network was one of the current administration’s campaign pledges, and the first phase of the project was granted to MTCC. Following the launching of the first vessel of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry, MTCC will conduct engine commissioning, prior to testing and trials.
The special event held in the launching of this vessel was joined by MTCC CEO Adam Azim, Deputy Director-General, Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Anwar Ali, and other senior officials of MNPHI & MTCC.
As per MTCC, the operations of the first phase of the Integrated National Public Ferry Network Project will begin in the month of November and will be completed in early 2022. The first phase of the high-speed ferry network will comprise Ha. Hdh. Sh. atolls with a total of 41 islands.
