Parliament Member, Hassan Latheef calls for a proper investigation on the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) embezzlement and money laundering scandal and he warned that if proper investigation is not done the state might have to take the blame.

Parliament Member, Hassan Latheef is also the Chairperson of the current ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

During the recent court hearing about the MMPRC scandal, Former Vice President (VP) Mr Adeeb has stated that many are involved in the scandal, referring to this Mr Hassan Latheef has said that if a proper investigation is not done for everyone involved in the MMPRC scandal, the state might have to take the blame for it.

Hassan Latheef further said a proper investigation will also benefit the state and the state representative parliament members, to clear any blame for them.

Adeeb also blames the Former President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom on the MMPRC scandal, saying that he knew what everything went in MMPRC, and everything was instructed through Former President Yameen. He also accused that the scandal was under the plans of Former President Yameen and his administration.

Adding to his accusations to the Former President, Adeeb also said that a lot of people were involved in the MMPRC scandal, including the authorities and institutions under the former administration, Political parties, and many parliament members during the parliament votings as well.

Adeeb also said that the former administration by President Yameen had no intention of investigating the case and recovering the funds and If he wanted, the same laws and guidelines were applicable back then as well. Meanwhile everything went under Yameens instructions, all the transactions and businesses in the MMPRC embezzlement and money laundering scandal went under Former President Yameens instructions.
