President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with the Speaker of the Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed.
Discussions at the meeting were focused on the local economy, climate change, and environmental protection. The Speaker also discussed the topic of a governance system most fitting for the country.
Nasheed has been openly advocating to switch the governance system to parliamentary. He has previously stated that it would be beneficial to conduct a vote to decide whether the Maldives should switch to a parliamentary system.
Following the meeting, Nasheed tweeted thanking President Solih for the meeting and reassured the public that things will continue to get better. He also said that he will continue to work with President Solih.
