Managing Director of State Trading Organisation (STO), Hussain Amru said that a fishing boat has earned 216,000 MVR in 45 minutes.
Referring to a recently tweeted video of Shaviyani Maaungoodhoo fishing boat ‘Wafa’, catching 12 Tonnes of Fishes in 45 minutes, Hussain Amru said that the fishing boat has earned 216,000 MVR in 45 minutes.
Lately it is very common to see videos of fishing boats catching a large number of fishing, showing the recovery of the fishing industry of Maldives amidst the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Horizon Fisheries Private Limited, a processor of fish and fishery products based in the Maldives, providing products for both the domestic and international market, has controlled buying fish from the local fisherman, decreasing the amount to only 5 tonnes of fish per fishing boat.
