President of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih tweeting with World Teacher Day greetings, thanked every single teacher along with his teachers.

In his tweet, the President said that besides our parents, teachers are the ones who’ve had lasting positive impact on who we are today.



President also expressed sentiments in a video message published this afternoon, in celebration of World Teacher’s Day.

In his video message, the president stated that teaching is not merely a profession, it is an essential service and the foundations for national development is laid through invaluable contribution of teachers in educating young. The President also thanked teachers for the tireless efforts they made during the Covid-19 pandemic to educate our young, despite the challenges of the disease. He emphasized that the entire nation owes teachers a debt of gratitude for their diligence and sacrifice.

The President ended his remarks with a prayer, asking Allah (swt) to bless all those who work in the profession of teaching, and to grant them success.

World Teachers' Day is an international day celebrated annually on October 5 since 1994. In 2020, World Teachers’ Day will celebrate teachers with the theme “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”.
