At the invitation of H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, H.E. Sheikh Hasina, arrived in the Maldives Wednesday afternoon on a State Visit. This is the Prime Minister’s first visit to the Maldives during President Solih’s term.
The Prime Minister and her delegation arrived at Velana International Airport, where they were received by senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. An official welcoming ceremony for the Prime Minister would be held on Thursday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to meet with President Solih and other state dignitaries during her visit. The two governments would hold official talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation, following which a number of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) would be exchanged. The President and the Prime Minister would also hold a joint press conference and speak about the outcomes of the talks between the two governments.
The increase in the number of high-level visits between the Maldives and Bangladesh this year has deepened the ties between the two countries.
