Changes brought to the seating arrangements of the members in the parliament gets the approval of the Parliament’s General Purpose Committee, for the members to sit in seats allocated to the political party they represent.

From a proposal to change the parliament members seating, Parliament’s General Purpose Committee passed the amendments yesterday along with a unanimous voting within the committee members. Changes of seating arrangements were commonly utilized in different legislative bodies across the globe.

According to the current seating allocated for the members include, MP’s representing the greater Male’ area will be sitting at the forefront, and the MP’s representing atolls or islands to sit behind in an orderly manner.

Meanwhile discussions were held in the Parliament’s General Purpose Committee, to change the seating arrangements in order of the atolls across northern most Ha atoll to southern most Seenu atoll. But most members in the committee depended and referred to the seating arrangements commonly utilized in different legislative bodies across the globe, for the MP's to sit in seats allocated to the political party they represent.
