A 35 year old man arrested for grooming a 14 year-old child.
As per the police statement, police have received reports of a child grooming case in an island under the jurisdiction of the South Central Police Division (Th. Atoll an L. Atoll). Police have said that a 14 year-old girl was groomed over on different occasions in an extended period of time, encouraging and trying to force into sexual relationships with her.
The case was reported to Maldives Police Service on the 30th of September and a 35 year-old suspect was arrested through a court order on 5th October.
Sexual grooming of children is a serious act of offence hence the police do not release information regarding the location where the crime took place in order to protect the identity of child victims.
Further investigations are continued for the case.
