Finance Minister, Ibrahim Ameer has said that the ongoing Income support allowance release will be extended till December 2020.

Answering to a question by the Parliament Member Abdulla Jabir, Minister Ameer said that it has been decided to continue to release the ongoing Income support allowance given for those whose income was affected by covid-19 pandemic. He further assured that this will be also further extended if needed.

As per the Minister Ameer, so far the state has released over 96 million Rufiyaa as income support allowance, from which 8.4 million rufiyaa has been released to Fishermans as income support allowance.

Minister also said that income support allowance is also given to Fishermans and Farmers. Minister further said a credit scheme of a 100 million Rufiyaa has also been introduced to support Fish exportation companies to minimise the decrease of the cost of buying fish from Fisherman.

The state has decided to release income support allowance for upto a 5000 MVR per person, depending on the impacts of covid-19 to their income and to be eligible for the income support allowance, the applicant has to be between 18 - 65 years of age and living in Maldives.

As per the recent reports of the Finance Ministry, so far the state has released 96.4 million MVR as income support allowance till end of September.
