With an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, Gdh. Thinadhoo island has been placed under curfew.
As per statistics, 1361 Covid cases have been reported from Thinadhoo Island. Out of which, 1200 are reported as currently active cases, while five people have passed away.
The statement released today by Thinadhoo Council announced that the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has put the island under monitoring following a surge in daily Covid-19 cases. Referring to this, the Thinadhoo Emergency Operation Center has decided to impose restrictive measures, said the Thinadhoo Council in its statement.
Under the restrictive measures imposed on the island, curfew has been announced, restricting any movements out from residential homes from 09 pm till morning 04 am. In addition, any movements non-emergency or movements other than for basic needs have been restricted within the island as well.
Further restrictions include the ban on vehicles from 09 pm till morning 04 am, ban on sports activities, events, and public gatherings. Closure of salons, Gyms, and ban on holding physical classes at universities and Colleges.
So far, Maldives has recorded 120,168 positive cases, along with 15,721 active cases. Maldives is currently battling a surge in COVID-19 cases fueled by the new variant. With the surge in the number of cases, HPA has placed 29 islands under monitoring status.
