On Tuesday morning, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa paid a courtesy call on Minister of Defence Uza. Mariya Didi.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Defence, Minister Mariya thanked the Secretary-General for the League’s outstanding contributions to Islamic unity, global peace, and harmony, in terms of clarifying the truth about Islam and its moderate principles, fostering ties of sisterhood among Islamic nations and boosting global efforts to tackle terrorism and violent extremism.
The Secretary-General and the Minister spoke candidly on many issues including the issue of Violent Extremism leading to Terrorism.
Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa spoke highly of His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's Zero Tolerance Policy on Terrorism and Violent Extremism, and the Government's approach to making it a national effort through its Whole of Government and Whole of Society policy.
The Minister was joined by Maldivian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mr. Mohamed Khaleel, Director General of National Counter Terrorism Center Brigadier General (Retired) Zakariyya Mansoor, Military Secretary BG Abdul Matheen Ahmed, MNDF Department of International Defence Cooperation’s Principal Director LTC Ahmed Shareef, and NCTC's Director LTC Ibrahim Naeem.
