The total number of Covid-19 fatalities has risen to 291 in the Maldives.

As per the Health Protection Authority's (HPA) information, a 90-year-old Maldivian male passed away this morning while he was admitted for treatment at Addu Equatorial Hospital Isolation.

He passed away at 08:50 am today. HPA has confirmed the death as a Covid-19 related death. This also marks the 14th death in the month of February so far.

The Maldives reported the first death to Covid-19 on April 29, 2020.

The recent surge in the number of cases has led to an increase in the number of daily cases as well as the number of people admitted to medical facilities has been raising as well. According to HPA, Maldives has recorded 164,229 Covid-19 cases, including 15,058 active cases, and there are 26 admitted to hospitals for further treatment.
